Caroline designs and produces fine bone chinaware from her studio in South East London. After graduating from Central St Martin's College in 2000, she experimented with lighting and combining ceramic with metal until she fell in love with bone china about two years ago. Although it is an expensive material that can be difficult to cast, problematic to fire and absolutely hellish to glaze, Caroline has stuck doggedly to her mission. Quite simply, because it is beautiful. Bone china is exquisitely refined and possesses a translucent property that is quite breathtaking. On top of that, it is quintessentially English and Caroline certainly loves a challenge. |

egg cups: This pretty egg cup duo is the perfect gift for egg cup lovers! Handmade in my London studio they are slipcast bone china, fired to a translucent finish and then decorated with enamel decal pattern which has been inspired by such diverse subjects as old Indian textiles and sticks of rock! The egg cup was inspired by the form of a boiled egg and the egg bowl is the diminutive cousin of the larger flower bowl in the Caroline Vidal collection. When not serving you at breakfast it can also do a turn as a mini flower vase for a small bloom or as an exquisite little tea light holder. |
